John: I've got Meatball Sundae sitting here on my desk— just need to crack it open!

And thanks for the 22 Laws recommendation, Andy. Which of the 22 has had the biggest impact on how you've marketed your business?

I love all of those mentioned, but the two I keep going back to are Godin's Purple Cow and Meatball Sundae.

Thanks for the ideas, all.
Haven't read it yet, so I won't call it the best ever. But I heard Merlin Mann's interview with Seth Godin about Seth's new book, Linchpin: Are You Indispensable?, and am really looking forward to reading it. I want to learn how to quiet my lizard brain!

Yes, Jeff, I've read SPIN Selling and trained some portions of it. It's a classic, but written over 20 years ago so it's a bit dated. I'll bring in my copy. A better book is Jill Konrath's Selling to BIG Companies or, a bit more complex book, CustomerCentric Selling. I would be happy to lead a reading group at the MAC on either of these two books.

I love Dr. Seuss!!! Definitely will have to check that book out. Have you ever read Spin Selling by Neil Rackham? It was recommended to me recently. Sounds like it would be relevant for the type of stuff we sell (solutions, rather than one-off products).

Most of the comments on Amazon are positive, but some are very critical. My main source of doubt comes from the fact that it was written over 20 years ago, and there doesn't seem to be many similar books written since. Do you have any experience with it?

For me it's Tribes by Seth Godin. He talks about the power of community in building a business today. Second best is On Beyond Zebra by Dr. Seuss (a metaphor for being extraordinary).
