Oregon State University has an astounding amount of data on natural resources. It needed to turn these raw reports into usable information. To that end, we created Oregon Explorer: an engaging digital library that houses a wealth of information and tools.

Challenge

The digital library at Oregon State University contains a storehouse of data on natural resources, but when the project began this information wasn’t easy for users — policymakers, instructors, students, and the general public — to access or understand.

Goal

The University needed a way to turn thousands of raw reports into tangible, usable information — then make it all accessible to the public, so the data could be used and appreciated.

Execution

The MAC designed a robust website with an easy-to-use interface that made finding information fast. We created the information architecture, wireframes for more than a dozen unique page templates, and the UX/UI design for the website and custom mapping tools.

Result

The result is a robust hub of information and tools, including thousands of articles, datasets, maps, and other downloads. Through Oregon Explorer, the University offers a powerful educational resource for anyone who’s researching, planning, advising or just curious.
